Lorenza A. Manenti, Ph.D. student
Dipartimento di Informatica, Sistemistica e Comunicazione
Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca

I am a second-year Ph.D. student (cycle xxv) in Computer Science at Dipartimento di Informatica, Sistemistica e Comunicazione (DISCo) of Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, where I obtained both my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in 2006 and 2009 respectively.

After my master thesis on “A knowledge-based approach to crowd modeling and classification” (supervisors Dr. Sara Manzoni and Dr. Fabio Sartori) aiming at the creation of a fuzzy ontology and fuzzy set rules as tools for knowledge representation in the development of a knowledge-based classification framework for concert crowd, my research interests are focused on Multi-agent systems for crowd simulation. Currently, my PhD thesis is focused on this area, with the aim of developing an agent-based computational model for the explicit representation and modeling of the notion of group in the crowd simulation.

Courses

I have attended the following courses so far:

  • Service Science held by prof. Flavio De Paol.
  • Algorithmic Game Theory held by prof. Nicola gatt, at Politecnico di Milano.

On September 20-24, 2010 I attended the First International Summer School on Ageing Society and Technology.

On August 31-4, 2009 I attended the 11th European Agent System Summer School (EASSS 09) in Turin.

Events

I have attended the following conferences so far:

  • 4th Metadata and Semantic Research Conference (MTSR 2010), October 20-22 2010, Alcalà de Henares, Spain
  • 9th International Conference on Cellular Automata for research and Industry (ACRI2010), September 20-24 2010, Ascoli Piceno, Italy
  • 11th National Workshop "From Object to Agents" (WOA10), September 5-7 2010, Rimini, Italy
  • 5th International Conference on Pedestrian and Evacuation Dynamics (PED2010), March 8-10, 2010, Gaithersburg, MD USA
  • 10th National Workshop "From Object to Agents" (WOA09), July 8-10 2009, Parma, Italy
