A Unified View of Modern Symbolic Learning from Data to Logic

Speaker

Prof. Guido Sciavicco

Università degli Studi di Ferrara

Abstract

In this seminar, we shall give a general overview of the current status of symbolic learning and a logical description of data. We shall argue how the fundamental data types (tabular, temporal, spatial, graph, and text) can benefit from a unified and generalized view that reflects the idea of modal logic as a generalized tool to describe such data. Then, we shall present the current status of a unique open-source tool currently under development that allows one to carry a learning journey from raw data to logical rules, following all standard, typical data science steps, but with a logical twist. Finally, we shall present examples of such journeys taken from real-world scenarios from the medical and industrial domains.
