the paper “Optimizing Parcels Sorting Through Reinforcement Learning for Intralogistics”, co-authored by Dr. Blerina Spahiu, has received the PAIS (Prestigious Applications of Intelligent Systems) Outstanding Paper Award at ECAI –European Conference on Artificial Intelligence 2025.
The paper shows how to combine Reinforcement Learning (PPO) and computer vision (YOLO) to automate and make parcel sorting in intralogistics facilities smarter, reaching up to 96.5% accuracy in real-world conditions while maintaining high performance even with mixed flows.
