Mauro Pezzè at the new ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Academy

Professor Mauro Pezzè has been invited as a founding member of the new ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Academy. The ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) is one of the oldest (founded in 1947) and most important international associations for computing, managing approximately 80 international journals and 170 conferences in the field. ACM SIGSOFT (Special Interest Group on Software Engineering) is the largest ACM special interest group and focuses on software engineering. This year, SIGSOFT decided to establish the ACM SIGSOFT Academy, a permanent body bringing together researchers, educators, and professionals whose enduring contributions, influence, and leadership have helped define the foundations and development of software engineering. Its members include leading figures in the discipline, such as Turing Award winner Joseph Sifakis—recipient of the most prestigious honor in computer science—and Mary Shaw, a recipient of the U.S. Presidential Silver Medal for research. The inaugural class was selected by invitation from ACM SIGSOFT, while in future years, new members will be elected annually based on nominations submitted by the scientific community.
