New PhD Scholarship in Quantum Technologies Funded by the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency

The Department has been awarded funding from the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) for a PhD scholarship supporting the research project Composing Encrypted Cloning with Quantum Error Correction for Secure and Resilient Quantum Storage Architectures. The project will be led by Prof. Gabriele Gianini as Principal Investigator.
The proposal, submitted in response to the ACN call for 30 PhD scholarships in the field of cybersecurity, ranked fourth out of 214 applications. The research will be carried out within the 42nd cycle of the PhD Programme in Computer Science and will involve the THALES Lab research group.
The project will focus on the study of protocols for the secure protection, distribution, and recovery of quantum information, exploiting advanced techniques in quantum information processing. In particular, the research aims to extend and generalize recently proposed encrypted quantum cloning schemes, contributing to the development of new knowledge and innovative solutions in the fields of quantum information theory and cybersecurity.

Quantum technologies represent one of the major scientific and technological challenges of the coming years," said the Principal Investigator. "Through this project, we aim to contribute to the development of new approaches for protecting quantum information, with potential implications for the security of future digital infrastructures. The PhD scholarship will also provide an opportunity to train highly specialized researchers in an area of strategic importance for the country.”
The scholarship includes a six-month research stay at INSA Lyon and research activities carried out in collaboration with Engineering.
